Tribeca Festival Reveals 2024 Features Lineup with World Premiere Documentaries and Star-Studded Casts

New York City, New York – The Tribeca Festival has unveiled the lineup for its 2024 edition, promising a diverse range of feature films and documentaries. The festival is set to open with the world premiere of the Hulu documentary “Diane von Furstenberg: Woman in Charge,” directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Trish Dalton. This year’s lineup includes a variety of world premieres, including documentaries about Liza Minnelli, Harry Belafonte, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Ani DiFranco, Linda Perry, Avicii, dream hampton, and the Brat Pack, among others.

In addition to the exciting documentary premieres, the festival will also feature screenings of highly anticipated films such as “Jazzy” starring Lily Gladstone, “Daddio” with Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn, “Firebrand” starring Alicia Vikander and Jude Law, and “Sacramento” directed by Michael Angarano and featuring Kristen Stewart and Maya Erskine. The lineup also includes the psychological thriller “McVeigh,” based on the Oklahoma City bombing, and the world premiere of Tiffany Paulsen’s “Winter Spring Summer or Fall” starring Jenna Ortega and Percy Hynes White.

Tribeca Festival will also showcase two comedian-centric documentaries: “Group Therapy,” produced by Kevin Hart and featuring Neil Patrick Harris, Mike Birbiglia, and Tig Notaro, and “Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution” with Lily Tomlin, Wanda Sykes, Rosie O’Donnell, Hannah Gadsby, and Joel Kim Booster. Overall, the festival promises to offer audiences a diverse and thought-provoking selection of films that capture the essence of the present moment.

According to Tribeca co-founder and CEO Jane Rosenthal, storytelling has the power to bring people together and offer hope during challenging times. The festival’s director and senior VP of programming, Cara Cusumano, expressed admiration for the filmmakers’ ability to deliver engaging, impactful, and boundary-breaking work despite industry challenges and global turmoil. This year’s lineup, selected from over 13,000 submissions, features 103 films from 114 filmmakers across 48 countries, with a strong focus on diversity and inclusion.

Notably, the 2024 Tribeca Festival will mark the first time the Viewpoints interdisciplinary section will be in competition. With 86 world premieres, two international premieres, six North American premieres, and eight New York premieres, the festival is set to showcase a wide range of voices and perspectives. Half of the films in competition are directed by women, while 35% are directed by filmmakers who are Black, indigenous, or people of color. With 30 films directed by first-timers and 25 returning directors, this year’s festival promises to be a celebration of both emerging talent and established voices in the film industry.
