Tragic Teen Incident: 15-Year-Old Charged with Murder After Fatal Shooting of Former Boyfriend in Abington Township

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A 15-year-old girl is now facing serious charges as a result of a tragic shooting that claimed the life of her former boyfriend. Authorities allege that Precious Hamilton fatally shot 17-year-old Baseem “Seyven” Baker in the head before leaving the apartment where the incident occurred.

Hamilton has been charged with third-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, and unlawful possession of a firearm, among other offenses. Prosecutors claim that the girl was handling a stolen handgun inside Baker’s bedroom at the time of the shooting, which they say occurred when the weapon discharged unexpectedly.

Emergency responders were called to the residence on the 100 block of Old York Road around 5 p.m. Monday, after Baker’s mother discovered her son unresponsive. Medical personnel pronounced him dead on the scene from a single gunshot wound.

Baker’s mother reported to investigators that she left the apartment around 2:30 p.m. to run errands, leaving the two teenagers together. Upon her return approximately two hours later, she found the door ajar and soon discovered Baker lying motionless on the bedroom floor.

Investigators learned that Hamilton had spent the weekend at Baker’s apartment. A cousin of Baker revealed that earlier, Hamilton showcased a revolver to him and others. At that time, she allegedly talked about firing it out of a window but was ultimately dissuaded and instead practiced “dry firing,” or pulling the trigger without ammunition.

Photos and videos retrieved from Baker’s iPad reportedly show Hamilton posing with the firearm shortly before the shooting, further complicating the narrative.

Surveillance footage from the complex depicted Hamilton leaving the building alone around 3:30 p.m., shortly before Baker’s mother returned. When questioned by police, Hamilton admitted to having stolen the revolver approximately two months earlier.

According to Hamilton’s account in the arrest affidavit, the atmosphere turned tense while she and Baker were lying on the bed. In an attempt to distance herself, she allegedly reached for the gun beneath the bed and pulled it out. She claimed she was startled when the gun discharged, striking Baker in the head.

Hamilton reportedly expressed panic following the incident, leaving Baker’s body behind and contacting her mother for a ride, without notifying anyone about the shooting or seeking medical help.

An autopsy confirmed Baker’s death as a homicide. Law enforcement continues to search for the revolver involved in the shooting as the investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragedy remains ongoing. Hamilton is awaiting her next court appearance as the case develops.
