TOLLESON, Ariz. — The tragic death of an 18-year-old woman who recently exited the foster care system has sent shockwaves through the community. After meeting a man on a dating app, Yessenia Norman was reported missing on January 19, prompting a multi-state search that culminated in an arrest in Mississippi.
Norman, known to friends and family as “Sisi,” was last seen leaving a transitional housing facility with plans to meet someone for a date. Concern grew among her friends when they lost contact after several days, leading them to alert authorities. Her body was discovered nearly two weeks later in a Tolleson apartment, concealed beneath blankets and towels.
Investigators found Norman’s remains on January 28 in an apartment registered to 27-year-old Randal Basilio Santillan. An autopsy revealed she had suffered approximately 30 stab wounds. The motive for her brutal killing remains unclear, and police continue to piece together the interactions between Norman and Santillan.
Detectives linked evidence from the scene to Santillan, who had mysteriously vanished around the time of the murder.
