CUDJOE KEY, Fla. — A man in the Florida Keys has been charged with second-degree murder following a disturbing incident at his home, where deputies discovered his wife severely injured late last month. Authorities reported that the victim, Lynne Alane Shadduck, was found unconscious and bloodied inside their residence on May 28.
Bradly Shawn Shadduck, 56, is now in custody after an emergency call from a neighbor led deputies to investigate what initially appeared to be a medical crisis. As they arrived, they found Shadduck outside seeking help, while his 62-year-old wife lay inside in critical condition. Medical personnel rushed Lynne Shadduck to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Initial reports indicate that Bradly Shadduck approached a neighbor just before dawn. He was wrapped in a Cleveland Browns blanket and requested that the neighbor call 911. The neighbor reported that Shadduck had described the scene in their home as “full of blood.” When deputies arrived, they found Lynne Shadduck inside suffering from severe injuries, and despite initially having a pulse, she did not survive.
Inside the couple’s home on Maracaibo Lane, deputies described the surroundings as chaotic, with furniture overturned and blood smeared across multiple surfaces. A significant amount of blood was found in the living room, with the victim exhibiting notable injuries to her face and head. At that time, investigators deemed the scene a homicide investigation.
During questioning at the sheriff’s office, Bradly Shadduck recounted that he and his wife had consumed food and “lots of drinks” at a restaurant the night before. He claimed not to remember how they returned home or the events that followed. He attributed the disorder within the home to “rough sex” and mentioned that he often loses consciousness after drinking.
Surveillance footage from neighbors contradicted some of Shadduck’s statements, showing him appearing wet and shirtless, banging on doors and windows in the early morning hours. Authorities noted he left bloodstains on the railing of one neighbor’s home while attempting to gain entry. His behavior raised suspicions about his account of the events leading up to the crisis.
Following a search warrant, investigators discovered more blood throughout the home, particularly around the front door and in a bathroom. Closer examination of the evidence indicated signs of a violent struggle, while Bradly Shadduck exhibited no visible injuries, which further complicated his explanation.
The charges against him reflect the severity of the allegations, defining second-degree murder as an unlawful act committed with a depraved mind but without premeditated intent. Although he is presumed innocent until proven guilty, the gravity of the situation has drawn significant attention in the tight-knit community and beyond.
Lynne Shadduck has been remembered by her community, including those who knew her as a compassionate nurse. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities await autopsy results and prepare to review all evidence, including witness statements and footage, before determining the next legal steps in the case.
As the court proceedings begin, Bradly Shadduck remains held without bond. The community continues to react to the tragedy, reflecting on the loss of a life woven into its fabric while anxiously awaiting further developments.
