Milwaukee Man Charged with Homicide After Stabbing Roommate in Disturbing Domestic Dispute

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — A 39-year-old man in Milwaukee was taken into custody last week following the fatal stabbing of a woman with whom he lived, igniting concerns about domestic violence and the tragic outcomes of heated confrontations.

Authorities responded to a call late Thursday evening at the apartment shared by Mile Dukic and 44-year-old Amanda Varisco. When officers arrived, they were granted entry by Dukic, who was reportedly evasive about the events that had unfolded. Inside, they discovered Varisco lying on the floor, unresponsive. Despite their attempts to revive her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators learned that prior to police intervention, Varisco’s daughter and her boyfriend had attempted to enter the apartment. This was prompted by alarming text messages sent by Dukic, in which he allegedly admitted to stabbing Varisco and claimed that she had been disrespectful during their argument. These messages raised serious concerns for the daughter’s safety and led the couple to call 911.

Upon questioning, Dukic described their relationship as complicated, noting that it was not strictly romantic but did involve sexual encounters. Tensions escalated when Varisco attempted to leave the apartment, which he claimed triggered a confrontation. Dukic stated that he struck her multiple times, causing her to lose consciousness before he allegedly stabbed her multiple times in a fit of rage.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner later confirmed that Varisco had sustained 22 stab wounds to her upper body, in addition to defensive injuries on her hands and arms, indicating she had tried to protect herself during the assault.

Court records revealed that Dukic was out on bail for previous felony charges, including stalking, when the alleged murder occurred. His bail conditions mandated he abstain from further illegal activity, but those prior cases are still pending resolution.

Prosecutors have charged Dukic with first-degree intentional homicide, as well as two counts of bail jumping. He is currently being held at the Milwaukee County Jail and awaits his next court date, which is set for March 10.

Family members have described Varisco as a dedicated mother of four and a grandmother of five, beloved by those who knew her. In memory of her life, loved ones have initiated a fundraising effort to assist with funeral expenses.

As the investigation continues, authorities remain committed to gathering evidence and preparing for the forthcoming legal proceedings. Public discussions around domestic violence have intensified in light of this tragic incident, raising awareness about the dangers of unresolved conflicts.
