MIAMI, FL – A Florida woman’s rage took a violent turn early Sunday when police say she attacked the father of her child after discovering his affair with her sister, leading to a bloody scene inside a northwest apartment complex.
The incident erupted just after midnight on April 28, when a string of shouts and what sounded like gunfire jolted residents awake in the 300 block of Northwest 177th Street. Multiple 911 calls summoned officers to the complex, where they followed the trail of blood smeared across a first-floor apartment door.
With no one answering inside and fearing for those within, officers broke through the entrance. Once inside, they encountered chaos—blood pooled on the floor and visible injuries suggesting a frenzied confrontation had just occurred.
The victim, bloodied and shaken, told police he hadn’t heard the knocks on his door. His body bore fresh cuts and scrapes. He quickly identified the woman accused of attacking him as Jaqueline Rodriguez, the mother of his child, and recounted a heated argument that spiraled out of control when she learned of his secret relationship with her sister.
According to police documents, Rodriguez allegedly lashed out, grabbing a knife in her anger and repeatedly stabbing him during the struggle. The victim characterized the assault as sudden and unwarranted, and voiced concerns that Rodriguez intended serious harm.
Though he declined to provide a sworn statement, officers documented his injuries with photographs as evidence. Rodriguez, 41, was taken into custody around 1 a.m., facing charges of aggravated battery with great bodily harm in connection with the stabbing.
While the primary focus of the police intervention was the violent domestic dispute, Rodriguez’s legal troubles extend beyond this incident. Authorities confirmed she is also under investigation for earlier charges of burglary and grand theft. She allegedly conspired with a man to steal approximately $14,000 worth of belongings from a vehicle following a car crash roughly three months prior to the stabbing.
As of Monday, Rodriguez remained held without bond at the Miami-Dade Corrections facility. The investigation into both the stabbing and the alleged theft continues as authorities piece together the events that led up to Rodriguez’s arrest.
Officials have not specified why nearly a year elapsed between the alleged assault and Rodriguez’s arrest. No additional injuries or suspects have been reported in connection with the apartment incident.
Neighbors in the complex expressed shock at the violence, with several saying they had never seen such a disturbance in the usually quiet building. Detectives are continuing to gather witness statements and evidence as the case moves forward through the court system.
