KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A violent confrontation outside a McDonald’s has led to serious charges against a local woman who allegedly followed her ex-boyfriend and his new partner before opening fire on him. Jolie S. Koop, 21, faces multiple charges, including first-degree assault and armed criminal action, following the altercation that occurred Monday night.
According to authorities, the incident was not a random encounter but rather the culmination of a premeditated act. Investigators revealed that earlier that evening, the new girlfriend of the man received a call claiming that her car, a Mercedes, was being towed from the ex-boyfriend’s residence. Believing the call to be a setup, the couple decided to verify the situation, only to find no signs of towing. They subsequently drove away, with the girlfriend in the Mercedes and the man following close behind in a Cadillac.
While traveling along North Indiana Avenue, the man noticed a Buick trailing them and informed his father. He expressed concern that his ex-girlfriend might be pursuing them, which prompted him to take several unexpected turns in an attempt to shake off the following vehicle. However, the Buick maintained its pursuit, signaling an intent to track the couple.
The confrontation escalated when the group’s vehicles reached the McDonald’s at 8650 North Indiana Avenue. The new girlfriend’s vehicle stalled, leaving them vulnerable as Koop and her mother approached. Witnesses reported that Koop and her mother exited the Buick and attacked the parked Mercedes with a wooden bat, causing significant damage.
In a tense moment, the man exited his Cadillac holding a knife and approached Koop, leading her to fire multiple shots, striking him twice in the chest.
