Julio Ariza Identified as Victim in Providence Homicide Case

Providence, Rhode Island – Providence police have identified the victim of the recent homicide on Admiral Street as 28-year-old Julio Ariza. Ariza was found early Sunday morning with a gunshot wound to his back at 190 Admiral St. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Ariza’s sister and girlfriend were present at his vigil, where his sister revealed that Ariza leaves behind a 9-year-old son. Police also noted that an apparent “sip joint” was being operated at the location of the homicide, indicating that it was an after-hours party after the clubs closed for the night.

Deputy Chief Timothy O’Hara explained that “sip joints” are gatherings that have been around for decades, often occurring after regular club hours. These events, commonly referred to as after-hours parties, are more than just house parties and have been known to pop up sporadically in various locations.

Despite ongoing investigations, Providence police have yet to make any arrests in connection with Ariza’s death. The community continues to mourn the loss of a young life and grapple with the tragic circumstances surrounding the shooting. NBC 10’s Molly Levine contributed to the report, adding further details to the developing story.
