Jasper Man Arrested After Allegedly Strangling Woman and Endangering Children in Tense Standoff with Police

Henderson, Ky.— A Jasper man faces multiple charges, including strangulation and intimidation with a deadly weapon, following an altercation that led to his arrest over the weekend. Police were alerted to a disturbance at a residence on Giesler Road in Jasper, where they discovered a woman with visible injuries.

The woman reported that she had been attacked by Delain Taylor in his apartment, where she was strangled and threatened with a firearm. She further indicated that Taylor was still inside the apartment and that two children were with him. Responding officers attempted to coax Taylor out of the home, but he initially refused to comply.

In an effort to ensure the safety of the children and to apprehend Taylor, authorities deployed a drone to gain visual access inside the apartment. After approximately 30 minutes of negotiations and surveillance, Taylor surrendered to law enforcement without further incident.

Officers were able to secure the two children from the residence shortly after Taylor’s arrest. Both children were found to be unharmed. A subsequent search of the apartment revealed the presence of a weapon and drug paraphernalia.

Taylor was transported to the Dubois County Security Center where he was booked on several charges. These include intimidation with a deadly weapon, strangulation, neglect of a dependent, possession of paraphernalia, and resisting law enforcement.

This incident raises concerns about domestic safety and the swift response of the Jasper Police Department highlights the critical role of law enforcement in managing such volatile situations. The use of technology, such as drones, in police operations also underscores a growing trend in using advanced tools to enhance public safety and response effectiveness.
