Healthcare Readiness Center Launched by Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York

New York, NY – The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai has recently unveiled the establishment of the Center for Healthcare Readiness. This initiative aims to assemble a diverse team of academic and operational experts to enhance the strategies of the Mount Sinai Health System and increase the capacity of the U.S. health care sector to effectively respond to large-scale public health emergencies.

Through collaboration with both local, regional, and federal partners, the Center will engage in research, advocacy, innovation, and collaboration to address future challenges. The inaugural “The Future of Healthcare Preparedness Conference” brought together leading experts to discuss strategies for strengthening healthcare readiness in the 21st century.

Notable speakers at the conference emphasized the importance of collaboration among public and private entities to bolster readiness efforts. Discussions revolved around various threats to health security, including emerging pathogens, environmental hazards, and the significance of preparedness plans and surveillance programs for new disease threats.

Key panels focused on national priorities for readiness in the post-COVID era, highlighting the essential role of public-private partnerships in ensuring healthcare availability during emergencies. Leaders stressed the need for trust-building, collaboration, and regionalization in readiness practices to improve health care delivery outcomes during crises.

With a focus on enhancing health care delivery for patients nationwide, the Center aims to leverage Mount Sinai’s extensive research enterprise across various medical disciplines. Experts will work towards training the next generation of medical professionals and scientists to effectively implement readiness strategies in everyday practice.

The Mount Sinai Center for Healthcare Readiness brings together a team of academic and operational experts in medical research, care delivery, clinical operations, education, and health system leadership. By collaborating with national health leaders and diverse industries, the Center seeks to develop consistent strategies for delivering high-quality patient care under extreme circumstances and preventing shortages of essential resources during health emergencies.
