Glasgow Man Indicted for Double Homicide in Tragic Shooting of Pregnant Woman and Unborn Child

GLASGOW, Ky. — A man has been indicted in connection with the fatal shooting of a pregnant woman in a domestic violence incident earlier this year. The case, which has drawn significant attention due to its tragic outcome, involves Brandon Lee Bond, who is charged with murder, first-degree fetal homicide, and fleeing or evading police on foot.

The indictment stems from an April 6 incident on Cleveland Avenue, where 22-year-old Ava “Jane” Renee Lynn Woodcock was allegedly shot while seated in her vehicle. Woodcock and her unborn daughter, Neveah Marie, succumbed to their injuries, prompting law enforcement to elevate the charges against Bond. Initially facing charges of attempted murder and fetal homicide, Bond now faces the more severe charges following the deaths, classified as Class A felonies in Kentucky.

Following reports of the shooting, police responded swiftly to the scene. Woodcock was discovered with life-threatening injuries and was subsequently transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital. Due to the severity of her condition, she was later airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital, where she died on April 7. Her unborn daughter also did not survive, marking a profound loss for her family and community.

Officers located Bond in a nearby wooded area shortly after he allegedly fled the scene. He was arrested and taken to the Barren County Jail, where he is being held on a $2 million cash bond. The Barren County grand jury’s indictment underscores the seriousness of the charges and the evidence presented, allowing the prosecution to continue the proceedings in circuit court.

Family members of Woodcock expressed their grief and mourning during her visitation and funeral services held on April 13. The family emphasized her role as a caring mother and her aspirations of becoming a veterinarian. She was remembered for her kindness and love for animals, leaving behind a young daughter, Chloe, who will grow up without her mother.

The nature of the relationship between Bond and Woodcock remains unclear, though law enforcement has indicated that the shooting was a result of a domestic dispute. Authorities have yet to disclose specific details regarding the motive or the weapon used during the shooting.

In the wake of the indictment, Barren County Commonwealth’s Attorney John Gardner met with Woodcock’s family, reinforcing the prosecution’s commitment to pursuing justice. The indictment, while not a determination of guilt, signifies that grand jurors found probable cause, allowing the case to advance through the legal system.

Bond’s next court appearances will include arraignment and subsequent hearings, where both the prosecution and defense will begin addressing various legal matters. As the legal process unfolds, Bond is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The Barren County community is now faced with the painful reality of this double tragedy, further intensified by the ongoing discussions about domestic violence and its implications. The case will continue to be monitored as it progresses through the court system, awaiting a trial date that will ultimately define Bond’s fate.
