NEW CANEY, Texas — A woman has been charged with murder following the death of her estranged husband, initially deemed a suicide. Breyanai Moore, 31, was taken into custody in March for her alleged role in the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Lonnie Moore.
The incident, which occurred in June 2025, involved the discovery of Lonnie Moore’s body inside a running vehicle along Northcrest Trail. For months, law enforcement maintained that the case could be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. However, as investigators reviewed evidence, including phone records and surveillance footage, they shifted their assessment, leading to Breyanai Moore’s arrest.
On the morning of June 15, 2025, deputies responded to a call regarding a man unresponsive in a car. Upon arrival, they found Lonnie Moore in the driver’s seat, deceased from a gunshot wound to the head. Initially, authorities treated the scene as a potential suicide.
