PLANTATION, FL – A man known as “Sugar Daddy” has been detained following an alleged deadly shooting at a motel in Plantation, a city in South Florida near Fort Lauderdale. The incident, sparking from a car towing dispute, left one person dead and another seriously injured.
Ronald James Davis, 51, faces charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder after the early Sunday morning shooting at the Plantation Motel. Police found a man deceased and a woman critically wounded when they arrived at the scene.
Before losing consciousness, the female victim reportedly identified Davis as the shooter. She was later taken into surgery due to severe blood loss.
Witnesses recounted to authorities the sequence of events that led to the tragedy. Davis allegedly arrived at the motel in a heightened state due to a traffic ticket and the towing of his vehicle. According to reports, he approached the woman, demanding a repayment of debts and threatening violence if she did not comply.
After leaving briefly, Davis returned and forcefully entered the motel room. Once inside, he allegedly opened fire, striking the male victim initially.
According to police, he was heard saying, “All ya’ll gonna learn today” while discharging his weapon. Witnesses described how Davis methodically targeted both victims before exiting with an “angry look” and leaving in a truck.
Authorities apprehended Davis shortly thereafter. Upon arrest, he was uncooperative but suggested police check his text messages, providing no further clarification.
Davis is currently held at the Broward County Jail without bond and awaits a court appearance scheduled for Tuesday.
The identities of the victims have not yet been disclosed.
