Tokoroa, New Zealand — A violent robbery last week in Tokoroa left one person with moderate injuries after being assaulted and having an article of clothing forcibly taken. The incident, which took place in the middle of the day on June 28, involved a small group of individuals and has rattled the local community.
Local authorities were alerted to the robbery around 1 p.m. when three assailants attacked the victim. After committing the robbery, the suspects fled the scene in a white Ford Courier ute, narrowly avoiding a collision with a Toyota van at the intersection of Leith Place and Swanson Street.
Detective Neale Saunders of the Tokoroa Police described the event as a “violent attack” executed in broad daylight. Saunders expressed concerns about the impact such a disturbing event could have on the residents and witnesses. He emphasized the police’s understanding of the situation’s disturbing nature for everyone who saw it unfold.
