Comedian regretfully prescribed weight loss drug without her knowledge

Los Angeles, CA – Comedian Chelsea Handler recently shared a surprising story on a podcast about her experience with the medication Ozempic. Handler revealed that her “anti-aging doctor” prescribed her the drug without her realizing its purpose. During an episode of “Call Her Daddy,” Handler admitted, “I didn’t even know I was on it. She said, ‘If you ever want to drop five pounds, this is good.'”

Despite giving the drug a try, Handler expressed that she did not enjoy how it made her feel. After injecting herself with Ozempic following a vacation, Handler experienced nausea, which led her to discover that her friend was also on the same medication. Realizing that Ozempic was not necessary for her medically, Handler decided to stop using it and gave away the remaining doses to friends.

Handler humorously shared, “I’ve injected about four or five of my friends with Ozempic, because I realized I didn’t want to use it because it was silly. It’s for heavy people.” She emphasized her lack of need for the medication by mentioning scheduling friends to visit her home, jokingly indicating that she did not need to utilize Ozempic for weight management. Handler’s candidness about her experience with Ozempic sheds light on the pressures individuals, even celebrities, can face regarding body image and weight loss in society.
