Brutal Revenge Attack in Evansville: Two Arrested for Attempted Murder After Victim Found Unconscious

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — In a grisly incident on Saturday night, two local men were arrested in connection with an assault that left another man critically injured, according to Evansville Police. The violent attack, marked by brutality and captured on various surveillance cameras, has rocked this quiet community.

Around 10:30 p.m., law enforcement responded to a distress call from a resident of the 100 block of E Tennessee Street, who reported that a severely injured man had arrived on their porch, bloodied and semi-coherent before he collapsed. Police said the homeowner, unacquainted with the injured man, believed he was seeking help due to the proximity of the home.

Emergency services promptly transported the victim to a nearby hospital where he remains in a dire condition with blunt head trauma and severe facial lacerations. The initial evaluations indicated the attack was not only sudden but disturbingly intense.

Investigators were able to piece together the events leading up to the attack through footage from a residential surveillance system and additional cameras at nearby commercial locations. The video revealed Charles Ethan Miles and Cade Christopher Kirk scouting the area in a black Jeep. Subsequent footage captured the two men assaulting the victim with punches to his head at the intersection of Heidelbach Avenue and Tennessee Street.

Further video analysis showed a more premeditated angle to the assault; Kirk was seen extracting an object from his waistband before striking the victim. The attack lasted for about 30 seconds, leaving the victim staggeringly seeking help before the assailants drove off.

Utilizing flock cameras, police located the suspects at a residence on Morton Avenue. Alongside Miles and Kirk, officers apprehended Samantha Brooke Chase, who faced unrelated charges. Insights into their personal connections revealed that Kirk and Chase were partners, residing with Miles, linking the trio to the same address.

Pertinent to the motive, authorities shared that the altercation was fueled by a personal grievance; the victim had a previous romantic involvement with Miles’ now-wife and allegedly sent her provocative images, triggering the conflict.

Upon arresting Kirk, detectives reported seizing brass knuckles, although Kirk denied using them during the altercation. This finding could suggest premeditation and intent to inflict serious harm.

The condition of the injured man remains precarious; he is unresponsive and dependent on life-support systems, with specialists doubtful about his recovery prospects.

Charges of attempted murder have been leveled against Miles and Kirk, reflecting the severity of their alleged crime. Depending on the victim’s medical outcome, these charges could escalate to murder. Chase, after processing her outstanding warrant, has been released.

This violent episode has ignited concerns within the Evansville community about safety and the sudden escalation of personal disputes into severe violence. As this case develops, local residents and law enforcement are calling for stricter surveillance and quicker intervention strategies to prevent such severe incidents in the future.
