Bacon Thrills Students at Payson High School with Surprise ‘Footloose’ Visit

Payson, Utah – Actor Kevin Bacon made a surprise visit to Payson High School to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the iconic film “Footloose.” Despite efforts over the past year to bring Bacon back to the filming location before its impending demolition, the star finally arrived just in time for the school’s prom.

The 1984 classic movie “Footloose” served as a landmark in the community, inspiring both students and locals to launch a “Bacon to Payson” campaign. This grassroots movement aimed to reunite Bacon with the school that played a central role in the film.

In a heartwarming gesture, Bacon partnered with the Utah Film Commission to support the school’s cause. Payson High School, where much of the movie was shot, is slated for demolition in the spring of 2025.

Returning to the school on the day of Payson High School’s prom, themed “Everybody Cut Footloose,” Bacon was greeted with excitement and nostalgia. Alumni, students, and fans alike were thrilled to see him return to the place where the magic of “Footloose” was captured.

As a part of his visit, Bacon highlighted his foundation, Sixdegrees, which aims to uplift and support local communities. The foundation is actively involved in creating 40,000 essential resource kits for communities in need, emphasizing the importance of giving back.

The community came together to support Bacon’s foundation, with students from Payson contributing 5,000 kits as part of the initiative. Over 1,000 volunteers gathered at Payson High School’s football field to assemble the kits, showcasing the spirit of unity and generosity. Bacon praised the dedication of the students and the community, noting the contagious enthusiasm and warm welcome he received.

Overall, Bacon’s visit to Payson High School served as a reminder of the lasting impact of “Footloose” and its ability to bring people together in support of a common cause. The event exemplified the power of community engagement and collaboration in creating positive change and fostering meaningful connections.
