HARRIS COUNTY, TX — An 18-year-old facing serious charges related to the death of an 8-year-old boy appeared in court on Thursday, where a judge maintained his bond at $1 million, rejecting a request for reduction.
Nolan Stallings stands accused of a felony charge of injury to a child resulting from an incident that occurred last month. Legal documents allege that Stallings inflicted harm on the young boy and neglected to provide necessary medical treatment.
The child was in severe condition when admitted to a Baytown medical facility on Feb. 10, presenting with numerous injuries, including fractured ribs. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries shortly afterward.
Investigators described Stallings’ explanation as the boy frequently “falling down,” but officials indicate the injuries align with signs of abuse.
Sheriff’s office personnel, supported by Child Protective Services, have launched a detailed inquiry into the situation. Their findings traced the abuse to a residence in the Baytown vicinity.
Charges were officially lodged against Stallings on Monday as the investigation progressed.
Authorities revealed that Stallings is in a relationship with the victim’s elder sister. While the exact dates of the incidents remain unclear, court records reveal the boy endured “abuse and torture over several days.”
Following these developments, Stallings was detained and is currently held at the Harris County Jail under the previously set bond amount. The case continues to unfold as authorities delve deeper into the timeline and circumstances of the alleged abuse.
