$20,000 Reward Announced for Information on Deadly Pool Party Shooting in Compton

COMPTON, Calif. — Authorities are actively pursuing the unidentified gunmen responsible for a tragic shooting at a pool party in Compton that left one man dead and five others wounded. The incident, which unfolded the evening of June 7th near the intersection of Greenleaf Boulevard and Mayo Street, has prompted Los Angeles County officials to offer a $20,000 reward for information leading to the shooters’ capture.

Responding to the scene at approximately 7:45 p.m., deputies discovered 28-year-old Robert Abdelkader III fatally wounded near the swimming pool of the hosting residence. Abdelkader, who owned a local business, was reportedly catering the event at the time he was shot.

The attack occurred amidst a gathering of 200 to 300 people. According to eyewitnesses, a sudden eruption of gunfire sent attendees fleeing in panic. Following the chaos, five additional victims were found — two men and three women, each with non-life-threatening injuries. They were promptly taken to local hospitals.

As investigators canvassed the area, evidence suggested that multiple shooters were involved and fled through a nearby alley. Authorities believe these assaults were not random, with indications that Abdelkader was tragically struck as an unintended target. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department suggests that numerous witnesses could potentially identify the assailants.

In the aftermath, Abdelkader’s family is reeling from their loss and imploring the public for assistance. His father, Robert Abdelkader Jr., in a heartfelt appeal, remembered his son as a generous individual dedicated to his community. “We did our best to raise him right,” he stated, noting his son’s entrepreneurial spirit and charitable nature. “We will miss him and we definitely need your gathered support to find justice.”

During a press conference, law enforcement officers stressed the importance of community assistance in their ongoing investigation. They requested that anyone with recordings or information from the party, particularly footage stored on mobile devices, come forward.

Inez Adkins, Abdelkader’s mother, also made an emotional plea: “Help me get a killer off the streets. Because next time, they may kill again, and it could be someone you love. I’m begging, if you have video or know the person or their whereabouts, please call any local police officer and share the information.”

The incident not only casts a shadow over the local community but also raises broader concerns about public safety in areas hosting large gatherings. The proximity to Compton College brings additional community focus, as local leaders and law enforcement advocate for heightened safety measures.

Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the June 7 shooting to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau. Tips can also be anonymously submitted through L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers. As the investigation continues, the community remains hopeful that those responsible will be swiftly brought to justice.
