HARRISBURG, Pa. — A tragic incident unfolded in a Harrisburg home on November 25, when a 13-year-old boy made a heartbreaking discovery after returning from school: his mother was deceased, and his stepfather was critically injured. Local law enforcement has classified the event as a domestic homicide.
Authorities reported that 31-year-old Violette Pierre was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband, Rocheny Clerge, before he attempted to take his own life. The family’s harrowing ordeal began when the teenager instinctively sought help from a neighbor, leading to a 911 call. Upon arrival, officers found Pierre unresponsive in the bathroom, partly underneath Clerge, who was also present but alive, suffering from a severe neck wound.
Emergency responders administered life-saving measures on Clerge before transporting him to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment. Reports indicate that he is expected to survive. A significant weapon, a large knife, was located near the scene of the incident.
Investigators reviewed home surveillance footage that captured key moments from the day of the tragedy. The footage revealed the teenage boy leaving for school around 8:30 a.m. and later returning home in distress, shortly after discovering the grim scene. In addition, prior footage recorded a family member dropping off the couple’s younger children at school, while an argument between Pierre and Clerge was audible in the background. The teenage son reported to detectives that his parents frequently argued, noting that a confrontation occurred shortly before he left for school. He also indicated that Pierre had threatened to leave Clerge the day before the incident.
Authorities swiftly initiated an investigation following the incident. Through a combination of physical evidence collected at the scene and witness statements, they concluded that Clerge was responsible for his wife’s death. Following his medical treatment, Clerge was taken into custody. He faces charges of first-degree murder and possession of an instrument of crime and is currently being held without bail. A preliminary court hearing is set for December 23.
The local community has reacted with shock and sorrow to this violent occurrence, grappling with the implications for the family involved. Relatives are now caring for the couple’s three children while child welfare agencies conduct assessments.
As investigators continue to gather information, they have yet to disclose further details regarding the nature of Pierre and Clerge’s relationship or any previous interactions with law enforcement. They stress that their investigation remains active as they seek to uncover the underlying circumstances behind this tragic event.
